MOST IMPORTANT FESTIVALS

Txakoli Eguna (Txakoli Day), first Sunday after Saint Isidore’s day. In 2005, it will be held on 22 May, in Amurrio. This festival marks the official opening of the new Txakoli season and pays tribute to those who have carried out initiatives in favour of the Ayala region in general, and Álavan Txakoli in particular. Events include tasting sessions and a folk and craft fair in Amurrio.

Txakoli a Tope (Txakoli to the full), normally held during June and July in Vitoria. Txakoli a Tope is a campaign aimed at promoting Álavan Txakoli among catering establishments in Vitoria. Events include tasting sessions and small snacks sold in bars and cafés at a moderate price, agreed upon beforehand with the establishments involved.

Ardoaraba (The Álava Wine Festival), held every year in December (over the Constitution Day bank holiday weekend) in Vitoria. Events include tasting sessions for Álavan wines in the city centre.
